As all my cakes are made to order prices can
differ greatly and very much depend on the
amount of work and decoration that is
involved. However we all like a rough idea
of how much something will cost, so here is
an approximate guide:

Celebration Cakes
Ordering:
To order a celebration cake, please contact
me to check availability and discuss your
specific requirements. A deposit of
approximately 50% of the total price is
payable by cheque, cash or bank transfer in
advance, with the balance payable in cash on
collection or delivery.
Short notice orders are sometimes available,
but generally at least 3-4 weeks notice is
required.
Delivery:
Celebration cakes can be collected at a
pre-arranged time, or delivered subject to
availability and a delivery fee may be
charged depending on the location. This can
be discussed at the time of ordering.
Wedding Cakes
Ordering:
To order your wedding cake, please contact
me to arrange a consultation where we can
discuss all aspects of your order. Please
note that a deposit of £75 is required to
secure a wedding cake booking, which is
non-refundable and non-transferrable as this
secures your date. The balance payment for
your cake is payable 2 weeks prior to the
wedding date and will be confirmed in
writing. In the event of cancellation
within 4 weeks of the wedding date, the full
amount will be payable.
Ideally a minimum of 6 months notice is
required for ordering a wedding cake,
especially if your wedding is during the
peak summer season. However it is usually
possible to give less notice at other times.
Delivery:
You are of course welcome to collect your
wedding cake, however most of my customers
will prefer that I deliver the cake to the
venue and ensure it is correctly assembled
in situ. This service is included in the
price of your wedding cake to venues within
a 20 mile radius of Southend-on-sea.
Please note
that I cannot be held responsible for uneven
flooring so please bear this in mind when
choosing where you want your cake to be
placed, and discuss this with the event
manager at your venue. Marquees, I have
found, can be particularly prone to this
problem.
If you hire or borrow a stand, separator or
cake knife, please ensure these are returned
promptly.
PAYMENT: Payments can be made
by cheque, cash or bank transfer, and I will
provide you with details at the time of
ordering.

Cakes can be made alcohol-free on request.
Carrot cake is made using ground nut oil
which can be substituted by sunflower oil
and is, by nature, dairy free. Nut free
cakes are available, however they will be
prepared in a kitchen where nuts and nut
products are used.
I will always try to cater for food
allergies and will be very happy to discuss
any particular requirements you have.
All sponge based cakes will need to be
stored in a cool, dry environment (not in
the fridge) and I recommend that they are
consumed within 5-7 days for maximum
enjoyment. I can advise on the storage
of uncut fruit cake and offer a re-icing
service.
CAKE PORTIONS
The following is an approximate guide to the
amount of portions you will get from your
cake. The round sizes can be used to assess
the amounts from other shapes such as;
heart, hexagonal, octagonal and petal.
This guide is based on wedding cake portions
and these are achievable if the person
cutting the cake is experienced and
accurate! For celebration cakes you are
likely to cut larger slices, so please get
in touch for advice about the size of cake
you need for your celebration.

For weddings it is also possible to provide
a cutting cake (sometimes called a kitchen
cake). This is an extra cake which is not
part of the main cake and is decorated with
plain white (or main cake colour) fondant
icing. It is then cut and served along with
the wedding cake. This option can be used
when there are a large number of guests to
cater for but your chosen design does not
require lots of tiers.
